Terra cotta pots and the dish that goes under them are great for plants but even better for crafting. There are so many things you can make by combining and decorating them. The projects are always simple because they usually involve only gluing and some painting.

Flip a pot upside down and lay an upside-down dish on top. Set a tiny pot on top of that with Spanish moss and a couple of tiny silk flowers. Paint each terra cotta piece a separate color and add polka dots or stripes if desired. On the front of the dish write ¡°The Potting Shed¡±. On the front of the bottom pot paint a door. The door can appear to be shut or just outline the door then draw in  small pots and flowers to look like the door is open. Outside of the potting shed use two craft sticks and two small wooden wheels to form a wheelbarrow. Glue the two sticks together at one end making sure to keep them spread apart at the other end. On the outside of the stick ends that are together glue on the wooden wheels. Use two bottle lids, stick pieces or something else to make the legs for the wheelbarrow  to rest. Glue a terra cotta dish to the top and you have a wheelbarrow. Inside the wheelbarrow place small pots with Spanish moss and silk flowers. This project can be made a miniature by using only the tiniest terra cotta pots or it can be made larger as a lawn ornament. 

Turn two small terra cotta pots upside-down. Place a small piece of wood, foam rectangle or even cardboard on top of the two pots. This will form a small bench. Paint it any color you want. Turn a small pot upside down on the bench and paint it with black and yellow stripes. Place a wooden ball on top of the pot after painting it black. Paint a face on the black ball. Now use foam or felt wings to complete a bumble bee. Use pipe cleaner pieces for antennae. 

Make bird baths of miniature or full size by turning one pot upside down and setting another pot on top, right side up. Fill with water. For miniatures place a piece of foil into the top pot. Glue on a tiny bird to the rim.

Make a lighthouse by flipping over one pot then gluing a dish on, right side up. Use the next smallest size pot and dish in the same manner. Do this once again then top with one more pot. Paint each pot black and each plate white. Paint the top pot red. Paint black stripes on each white dish to represent the railing. Paint a red door on the front of the bottom pot. Glue rocks around the bottom of the first pot if desired. You can even put a small person or two out near the rails. 

Make a cow to set out by the fence by turning a 6.5" pot upside down onto four tiny pots which are also upside down. This will make the body and feet. Glue a 4" pot at an angle with the open part of the pot partially on the flat part of the first pot and partially on the side. Make a cow bell to hang around the neck which will also cover the gap in the pots at the back of the animal¡¯s neck. Glue a terra cotta dish onto the face pot for a snout. Paint it pink and outline the nostrils in black. Paint the other pots white with black spots. Cut felt ears and glue on craft eyeballs.
