There are so many new ways to embellish your scrapbook pages.  Many of these techniques are fast and simple and result in pages that are attractive and professional.  One way to do this is to use metallic foils to accent your scrapbook pages.  This product often goes by the name of Foil Magic, and can be purchased at craft stores nationwide, usually in a kit.  Of course, it is important to look for products that are acid and lignin-free, and are of archival quality, so that they do not damage your precious photo memories.  

     The Foil Magic kits come with sheets of metallic foil in a variety of colors besides the traditional gold and silver.  They come in rich jewel tones of ruby red, magnificent purple, royal blue and emerald green.  There are also sweet pink and baby blue foil sheets included, so you can find a sheet of metallic foil to match just about any scrapbook layout you are working on.  Foils can give wedding pages an elegant feel, give a christening page the special look it deserves, or make a holiday page as festive as the gifts under the tree.  The best thing about using these foils is that they are easy to use and give professional looking results, even for the beginning scrap booker.   The kit also comes with a tube of adhesive that you will use to adhere the foil.  This adhesive is easy to use and can be applied in large or small areas, depending on how little or how much embellishment you want.  

     Choose a piece of heavy 12”± x 12”± card stock for your background.  Pick a sheet of foil in a complementary or contrasting color.  Taking the tube of adhesive, apply it to the areas where you want foil.  This can be in random squares, along the border, as a photo mat, or any other design you desire.  Allow the adhesive to dry until it is ”°tacky,”± that is until it is sticky but not wet.  This can take up to fifteen minutes, so you can assemble the rest of your page layout while you are waiting.    

     Place the foil on the adhesive areas and rub it gently.  Pull the piece of foil away slowly and gently.  The foil will adhere to the adhesive and give a soft, feathered looking edge to the area around the adhesive.  It will look as if you have applied a thin, delicate coating of rich metal to your page.  You can also give the foil more texture by rubbing it a little harder when applying it to the adhesive, or applying it over a piece of textured card stock.  The possibilities are endless.  

     Now, you can place your photos on the page and do some journaling about the event.  Try to use a matching pen that has a metallic sheen to it   Some other page embellishments that could be used to enhance your theme are metal eyelets or brads, metallic thread, or tags and stickers with metallic accents.  The point is to make your page layout look like a rich, attractive canvas for you priceless memories.
