Did you know that adults enjoy trampolines almost as much as kids do? They're great entertainment for kids, but they are also a fun way for adults to exercise!
Trampolines come in round and in rectangular shapes. They are made up of certain basic parts.
With all that bouncing up and down, sometimes a part is going to break or wear out. Then, your trampoline is going to develop problems and need some repairs made. You can make those repairs yourself, though, and save money if you follow the instructions in this article.
Problem 1 - Broken Spring
The springs are what holds the fabric mat of the trampoline to the tubular metal frame. Once at least one of the springs breaks or stretches out of shape, then it needs to be immediately replaced.
To purchase a new spring, you'll need to measure one of the existing ones. The replacement spring will need to be the exact same length and diameter.
Then, slide the end of the spring out of the grommet hole in the mat. Follow through with removing the other end of the spring from the tubular frame.
Insert the end of the replacement spring into the fabric mat, then pull the spring out and hook the other end into the frame.
Problem 2 - Trampoline Hops When in Use
If the trampoline wasn't secured to the ground when it was set up, it might develop a "hop" when someone bounces on it.
This problem can easily be repaired by installing long metal anchors with straps. The anchors hold the straps secure. The straps, in turn, hold the tubular frame of the trampoline in place so it can't move around.
This repair will also prevent a strong wind from picking up the trampoline up and turning it over or moving it from its location.
Problem 3 - The Mat Has Developed Sun Damage
Trampoline mats are durable and they are made to be outside in the weather. However, the sun's rays can easily rot the fabric of the mat. These rotten, weak places can turn into holes when the trampoline is used.
First, when it's not in use, the trampoline should be covered to protect it from the weather. Covering it will also protect it from dirt, bird droppings, and other debris.
To repair any spots that show sun damage, use a durable tape, like duct tape, to completely cover the areas. This can only be done on small areas of the mat, not large areas.
If the mat has developed large rotten, weak places, then you'll need to replace the entire mat immediately. Don't let anyone bounce on the trampoline until the mat has been replaced!
To replace the mat, you'll need to order a new one from the manufacturer. Check the owner's manual for details. Then, with the help of several assistants, start at one spring and pull it towards you. Unhook the end of the spring from the grommet in the mat, and leave the other end in the tubular frame. Your assistants should be doing the same thing at other areas.
Once the mat is completely free from the springs, remove it and discard it. Then, when the new mat arrives, reverse the procedure to install it.
Finally, you can also use duct tape to seal any holes that the safety padding gets in it too. You can also flip the safety padding over to get additional use out of it.
