Whether you are a plus size woman or just think you are a plus size woman, never fear.  A great Halloween costume is not far away.  If you think that because of your size that you cannot find a costume, you are wrong.  Halloween is for everyone these days, big, small or somewhere in the middle.

     Being plus size can definitely be a good thing when it comes to fantastic Halloween costumes.  They key is to use your size to your advantage.  Don¡¯t try to hide it, flaunt it!  Choose a costume that lets everyone know that you are not ashamed of who you are, and if you can accept yourself, so can they.  Remember to accessorize and use makeup, wigs and hats to look very authentic.  Halloween is a time to have fun.

     A lot of great costumes can be made out of something as simple as a sheet with a few good accessories.  For instance, dye a sheet gray, and fashion a torch and headpiece out of cardboard painted the same color and go as the Statue Of Liberty.  She is one lady who is proud of her size!  Tape a flashlight to the back of your torch to make it light up.   Drape the sheet over your shoulders and around your body until you have a gown you are comfortable with.  Use several safety pins to hold it in place. 

     Another costume choice using a sheet is a Greek goddess.  The Greeks admired voluptuous women.  Drape a crisp white sheet over one shoulder and leave the other one bare.  Wrap the sheet around your body and secure it with a piece of gold cording that can be purchased at any fabric store or even Wal-Mart.   Buy some silk leaves in green or gold and sew or glue them onto a headband.  

     If you are handier with a sewing machine, consider going as an m&m  candy or a pumpkin.  For an m&m, you will need about 4 yards of your favorite candy color, 5-6 bags of stuffing, some white felt for the letters, wonder under, and 2 yards of grosgrain ribbon that is at least 1 ? inches wide.  Cut a template out of butcher paper for the size you would like, including seam allowances.  Cut the fabric to shape, cutting four pieces of the fabric and two of the batting.  Stitch two of the pieces of fabric together, leaving a small hole for turning it right side out and for inserting the stuffing.  Turn it right side out and using some wonder under, attach an ¡®m¡¯ to each side.  Hand stitch a piece of ribbon to the front and back or each piece for hanging it over your shoulders.  Using the remaining ribbon, stitch one piece halfway down the side on the front and back of each candy piece to make ties that will tie under your arms to hold your costume together at the sides.  Stuff each piece as full as you want it, and then hand stitch the hole closed.  Wear black or white tights or sweats and shirt underneath.  For a pumpkin, do the same thing, only use orange fabric and pieces of black felt to cut out the face and apply it to the costume.  

     Another idea is to go as a bunch of grapes or jelly beans.  These costumes only require a sweat outfit in the appropriate color, 12-15 small balloons, and some safety pins.  Using the small balloons in the color of your choice, blow them up and secure them to your clothing with safety pins.  

     Still another costume idea is a Christmas present.  Get a large box from your neighborhood grocery store that is big enough to fit into.  Cut out the bottom entirely, a hole for your head in the top, and holes for your arms in the sides.  Wrap your box with festive paper and big bow.   Wear a matching shirt and pants underneath and you have yourself a great costume that did not cost a lot or require a lot of time to put together.

     If you are want to go as a princess, sexy witch, or naughty salon girl, go for it.  You don¡¯t have to be skinny to wear a costume like that.  Besides, cleavage will make it very authentic and attention getting!  Many places online sell plus size costumes of every type imaginable.  Since Halloween is a time to be somebody else, why not let your imagination go wild?  You will probably enjoy yourself very much!
