Location: Home > food > Food and Relationships: Have you ever dated someone with a restrictive diet?
21. I am the one with the restrictive diet (gluten-free due to celiac disease). For almost a year after my diagnosis,I found it difficult to date. I was often afraid of being mistaken for "picky" or "weird". Then I met the love of my life and began cooking some really special gourmet meals for us. In the end, I think HE has learned to appreciate a wider variety of foods (polenta, quinoa, etc) and I have learned that eating gluten free doesn't have to be so restrictive. I've discovered how to make gluten-free versions of some of his favorites that we can enjoy together (chicken parm, lasagna) Posted at 6:41AM on Feb 12th 2007 by GwenRN 22. I am a vegetarian since 1988 but I do eat milk items. I am very tolerant and have dated gentlemen who DO eat meat/poultry/fish, and am very tolerant. Most of my boyfriends have been good with my food preferences, except this one guy who kept asking me to taste steak when he ordered it in a restaurant. It plays such a large part of my enjoyment of life, that I'd end up miserable in th end if I stayed with someone like that. Posted at 10:52PM on Feb 26th 2007 by malarkey 24. Well, I certainly do hope that Greg is representative of the general view as I have just come off eggs and diary and am fearful that this might cramp my style.
