21. Malaysian/Indonesian Nasi Lemak is an awesome breakfast. There are many variations but it's often fried rice with coconut, a hard-boiled egg, some chili sauce, peanuts, and ikan bilis (small dried anchovies). Delicious. Still in the tin, with a fork, eating right out of the pan. Who hasn't done that? Posted at 12:21PM on Mar 8th 2007 by K 23. Cucumber and swiss sandwiches or pizza. I dislike sweet foods for breakfast, so I try and avoid most traditional items. Posted at 1:25PM on Mar 8th 2007 by Amber 24. Today we had beans (canned pork and beans) on toast and pan-fried garlic sausage..breakfast of champions.. Posted at 1:30PM on Mar 8th 2007 by Charlie 25. In St. Louis, St. Louis-style pizza would probably refer to a very thin crust pizza topped with a local item called provel cheese, which doesn't string out like mozzarella. Tomato sauce, of course, and the usual toppings. Primary provider of this is a chain called Imo's. Outsiders refer to it sometimes as Cheez Whiz on a cracker, but many of us love it, cold or hot. What the anti- folks don't seem to grasp is that one can like this kind of pizza and other kinds, too; it's like loving Carolina-style barbecue and other varieties as well. Chocolate gravy or leftover anything from the night before. Anything but cereal for me. Posted at 3:24PM on Mar 8th 2007 by Foodie Bride 28. Nothing gets the morning going right like bacon cereal: Posted at 3:40PM on Mar 8th 2007 by Rashid 29. Left-over chow mein. Yum. Posted at 3:41PM on Mar 8th 2007 by Jon Sagara 30. Whatever is left from the night before (chicken, steak, veggies, etc) cut up on top of ramen, of course with tons of sriricha and other spices. My dad can't start the day without a piece of pie (apple is best), chocolate cake, or a couple cookies...i guess its better than eating them in bed! Posted at 4:19PM on Mar 8th 2007 by Vicky 31. It's pretty common in Singapore to stop off at the local hawker centre before work for: Posted at 4:49PM on Mar 8th 2007 by turkiyaki 32. My favorite non-traditional breakfast is black-eyed peas and brown rice. I make up big batches of the Gumbo Shop (New Orleans) recipe and keep it in the freezer for hearty, satisfying breakfasts. Posted at 4:58PM on Mar 8th 2007 by Jennifer West 33. I like to eat simmered Pumpkin for breakfast. :) Just punpkin in cubes with a little soysauce, YUM! Posted at 7:08PM on Mar 8th 2007 by Sarah 34. I'm chinese, our breakfasts ARE like lunches or dinners. I eat anything I feel like when I wake up. From caramel apples... to the usual cold pizza or cold leftovers... In fact, I rarely eat "breakfast" food for breakfast.. sometimes I eat it for dinner tho. Rarely. Besides, isn't it proven to actually be "healthier" in a lot of cases to eat regular non-breakfasty foods? Some grilled chicken for breakfast beats bagels and crossiants and pastries any day for me. Posted at 7:11PM on Mar 8th 2007 by Miss Tiffie 35. I'm really against breakfast foods at breakfast time--so much egg, sugar and fat makes me want to die at that hour. The best is the comfort food I had as a kid in the morning, white rice with miso soup, and possibly some salmon. Or any manner of leftovers, like tuna casserole or of course, spaghetti. Best meal of the day, if you can get it. Posted at 7:48PM on Mar 8th 2007 by eatmenyc 36. smoked salmon on fried bread with dill mayonnaise...superb. Posted at 8:41PM on Mar 8th 2007 by cameron 37. On the days when I let my sweet tooth reign, I'd rather indulge it with a good piece of homemade chocolate cake in the morning rather than some pre-packaged jelly-filled pastry. Whenever I have a leftover cake coolin' its heels in the chill chest, give me a fork and a tall glass of milk, and I'm ready for my day! ;-) Posted at 8:58PM on Mar 8th 2007 by Jessica 38. Tuna mixed with greek yogurt, salted and peppered. Sometimes with sweet relish mixed in as well. oh-so-delish. Posted at 9:33PM on Mar 8th 2007 by Adriane 39. Nothing beats cold pizza or cold spaghetti for breakfast. I hate it when a restaurant (or Mom) traps you into having to have bacon & eggs, cereal or pancakes in the morning. I want to do what I want to do! And I agree with Peggy: breakfast for dinner is awesome! Posted at 10:01PM on Mar 8th 2007 by Kelly 40. Today, I had one of my favourite weird breakfasts- cold leftover Thai carryout- the spicier, the better. Whooooo boy, that'll get ya goin in the morning!
