Trader Joe's new item: knockoff NutellaPosted Aug 11th 2005 5:17PM by Sarah Gilbert Along with just about every other college-educated kid that once upon a time used her student Visa to buy a Eurail pass, I fell in love with Nutella over breakfast at a hostel in Paris. Now that I'm a health-conscious thirty-something, I eat it rarely (it's the trans-fat and the pricetag). Thank heavens for my local Trader Joe's, which sported a jar of "Cocoa Hazelnut Spread" on its shelves today, made with sunflower and hazelnut oils instead of that yucky partially-hydrogenated stuff. Best of all, it's cheaper than the European alternative - $2.69 for a 12.35-ounce jar here in Portland (compared to close to $4 for the same amount of Nutella). |
