Another Super-Expensive BurgerPosted Jun 21st 2006 5:01PM by Nick Vagnoni On the heels of a recent L.A. Times story about Thomas Keller's burger joint aspirations comes news of another high-end burger on the menu at the Old Homestead Steakhouse in Boca Raton, Fla. Dubbed the "beluga caviar of sandwiches," the $100 burger features a 20-ounce blend of American prime, Japanese Wagyu/Kobe and Argentinian beef. As if this weren't showy enough, the beef arrived in a black hummer for its debut yesterday. On a brighter note, $10 of each burger purchase goes to a local branch of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Just don't expect the Make A Wish Foundation, to benefit a great deal from the donations Posted at 8:26AM on Jun 28th 2006 by Jeff 23. you have way too much money and are way too selfish if you charge/spend $100 for a hamburger. that kind of money can feed a family of four for quite some time! Who can afford a $100 burger? Posted at 8:52AM on Jun 28th 2006 by Ray 27. Looks like a burger with a couple of chop sticks in the bun. For a hundred bucks I'd expect someone to hand feed me the thing. Oh, and pay for it, I'm to cheap to buy a burger at that price. Posted at 8:57AM on Jun 28th 2006 by Lisa 28. I am always amused by people who insist something like, "...they should donate that $100 to charity instead. There are people starving in this world!" My question to that person is this- what about the $5.75 you just spent at McDonalds? Why shouldn't that go to charity? There are people starving out there. I live in Boca and i think that its great that a restaurant has finally hooked up with a great charity and help the children while enjoying a great meal.So for all the people who find it rediculous, think about that child whos dying of cancer and then think about your comments. I think this is complelty ridiculous..there are starving people everywhere, not just in foriegn countries.I think that saying a measly lil 10$ going towards the Make a wish foundation is just an excuse for them to actually put a burger on the market for a 100$! What is 10$ going to actually do for dying child ?Nothing !!I think that saying 10$ of every burger sold is really a slap in the face to any sick child needing a wish fulfilled.Or anyone in fact. I just love to hate you people who mask your own hate and disdain for the United States by noting why the rest of the world should hate us because some people who, for whatever reason, (hard work, inheritance, lottery, etc.) can afford to waste THEIR money on a $100 burger. The old saying "Give a person a fish and they'll eat for a day, teach them to fish and they'll eat for a lifetime" has gotten lost somewhere. We're trying to show the world the life they can have, but they just won't have it and wait for the table scraps we worked so hard to leave them. Would I pay $100 for a burger? Hell no. That money needs to go for important things like fossil fuel in my SUV. Now if they had a sale on them for say, $50? Yum... Posted at 9:12AM on Jun 28th 2006 by Nytlvr 33. What kind of beef is this? Is it from a "HOLY COW"? The sad thing is that doctors, lawyers, and other people who live "high on the cow" will actually buy this load of "cow pie"!!!!!! Call me wasteful, but I'm grateful. As for all of you who complain, I think Roger said it best when he said "Stick to McDonalds". I earned my money and how dare any of you tell me how much is appropriate for me to spend on lunch? Posted at 9:35AM on Jun 28th 2006 by Joel 37. 100 bucks for a burger? these people are on drugs. Posted at 9:40AM on Jun 28th 2006 by bill bruno 38. It's all about bait, emotion and expression. You took the bait and read the story. You were affected by something in the story ($, beef, charity, etc.). You felt enough to share your emotion in this format. Hey folks, we're communicating..... and it's all good! Would you believe 75 dollars for a pair of flip flops? People will spend money simply because they think if it is expensive, it is better. Then you wonder why you have no money. If I work 80 hour weeks and study on the side to get ahead and make a great living, I'm supposed to give most of it away? What about the guy who sits on the couch drinking all day and sends his pregnant girl friend to the welfare office, am I supposed to write him a check? I know there are good honest people out there that need help, and I support the charities that I choose, but this is America people, where we all have a chance to make as much money as we want and spend it on whatever we wish. 21. In a sermon about "holiness," I heard Mother Angelica (an old rerun) say that there was nothing wrong with spending large sums of money on a car, i.e., a new Cadillac. Kids were starving when she said it and she knew it. I'm glad to know there are people here who have a better understanding of right and wrong than that twisted old right-winger. There are over 6,000 scriptures in the Bible condemning greed; Mother Angelica missed them all. A better passage than Luke 3:7-11 can't be argued for this situation.
