Monk fudgePosted Oct 21st 2005 1:08PM by Nick Vagnoni Sure, monks are sometimes known for brewing beer, but making fudge? The Brigittine Monks of The Priory of Our Lady of Consolation, located in Amity, Oregon, apparently do a brisk business in confections through their website. Along with a life of daily prayer and contemplation, the monks of this Willamette Valley monastery produce fudge that has been featured in Bon Appetit, People Magazine, Chocolatier and The New York Times. A pound of fudge is about $10; seasonal chocolate truffles are about $11 per half pound. If anyone has tried any of their sweets, I'd love to hear about it. |
