Free doughnuts on Friday

Posted May 31st 2006 9:06AM by Nicole WestonFiled under: Did you know?, Bakeries

Friday, June 2nd, is National Doughnut Day. It has been celebrated since 1938, when the day was originally devised to raise funds during the Great Depression. As you might imagine, it was a popular idea. Krispy Kreme, established in 1937, seems to have been participating in this "holiday" since its inception and, to celebrate, will be giving away free doughnuts at most of its US locations on Friday! Customers have a choice of any flavor of doughnut the stores offer, so make your decision wisely. Will it be the famous glazed or the seasonal Strawberries& Kreme?

21. Thanks Arthur Isaiac Jackson III , I was trying to figure out what Circus was trying to say! Not overly crazy about Krispy Creme, but I will get my free one. Dunkin Donuts used to be my favorites but can't find one near my residence.

22. Well now if C.Creams is giving out free donuts then they should make it a law that everyone else does too! They took my CC away. I visited them religiously when I was pregnant! A few weeks ago I drove by and to my surprise IT WAS GONE! well everyone enjoy your donuts!

29. I think it's great that there is a doughnut day,but if you are diabetic, it's not so good.Unless they make a sugar free doughnut, then we could enjoy a couple. To bad all doughnut shops don't do this it could increase their business by introducing people to their product.

32. Heavnly are the donuts in Plaistow NH. They make Crispy and Dunkin take a back seat. We in NH are very lucky to have this store.

33. cc is ran by americans, dunkin doughnuts are all ran by diaper heads, just like 7-11s,and most of the hotel, motels in this country they are too cheap to give anything for free, but love our tax breaks and very low intrest loans we give to open their business in our country.

35. Krispy Kremes are not tasty enough to drive around for a free one. We prefer a doughnut shop called Lucky's. Not greasy or overglazed and always fresh, they taste much much better! Located in Burien, WA

37. Arthur Isaic, I also see you point about MLK day and "doughnut day", but before you start to criticize other people's spelling, check your own: "you're", not "your."

38. OOPS! Regarding #21 and #22 (how I did it twice, I don't know), I meant to ask if anyone found out if Dunkin' Donuts is participating. Please excuse my typing.

39. Look folks, it's not Crispy Cream it's Krispy Kreme and I have eaten them since I was three years old (Won't say how old I am now) Used to sell them beginning at four in the morning until all were gone. We would have at least 5 truck loads to sell to help charity. A dozen was 25 cents. LOL Going for my freebie because I deserve it!

40. Ran to my Tele book and found that Tucson, AZ has two Krispy Kreme stores. We're expecting 106 today but I think I can make it out for a donut. Any suggestions for a good diet buster.
