Posted Oct 4th 2007 10:27PM by Marisa McClellanFiled under: Business, Health & Medical

It seems like every I turn around these days, there's another food recall being issued. Tonight it's coming from Campbell's Soup Company. They are voluntarily recalling more than 72,000 cans of their Chunky Baked Potato with Cheddar & Bacon Bits Soup because they may contain small pieces of plastic that run a choking and health risk. Three people have reported small injuries around the mouth from consuming this soup.   Consumers who purchased the Chunky Baked Potato with Cheddar & Bacon Bits soup with the can code JUL 08 2009 07097 are advised to return the product to the store where it was purchased for an exchange or refund.

21. What does race have to do with food safety? Most of these comments are irrelevant to this subject. Race and immigration (legal or illegal) is another subject. Duh.

24. There are so many angry comments! Why are we attacking eachother so much? there was a packaging accident and things that do not belong got into the soup. It happens all the time really. We just do not know about most of it. Or we try not to THINK about it as we eat the different foods we buy. Still I do not know why this triggers a tirad of personal attacks on people! I know a lot of Mexicans and they are good family loving and very hard working people. They are just trying to survive and feed their family. There is nothing wrong with that. Then there are the Americans - of which I am one. We are hard working too. We go to school and study like crazy fighting to feed our families and get an education - which is available for all. We try to live in a comfortable manner and demand to be paid a wage that allows us to do that, and compensate us for all our hard work. A Master's Degree does not come easy - AND there are MANY foreigners that earn them and get paid the same as "the American's" do! Please people let's stop wasting energy hating and pointing the finger! WHen you point your finger at things that someone else is doing "wrong" there are three fingers pointing back at you. this is to remind YOU to look at the situation and figure out what you do not like about YOUR situation and to take the time to figure out how to FIX it! Mexicans DO deserve to be paid a decent wage! It is criminal that they take less, but it is not their fault. They are forced to take what they can. It is the fault of the cheap employer that takes advantage of their situation. We saw the effects of the lack of their assistance. We - WE NEED their presence and they are taking NOONE's job! They are filling a position, and are very necessary! Stop hating! Please! This is an American speaking! Born and bred here, with 3 children and three grandchildren. I have worked since I was 13 and I love this country! It would not be the same without ANY group of individuals that live in it! We NEED eachother! Stop hating! Please!

25. 2 years ago, I found pieces of glass in a Giesha tuna can. There was no company information on the can, so I returned it to the store and got a refund for my purchase. I had learned to check through tuna purchases by hand to make sure there is nothing "extra" in it after I found a bone in a tuna can 6 years ago.
Also, remember to look in your salads you order from restaurants, as employees don't always wash the lettuce thoroughly. I can't tell you how many bugs I've almost eaten!

28. I don't care if Campbell's hires aliens from Outer space or out of US, just don't put anything in your can that's not supposed to be there!!
I'm making my own soup from now on (then I'll decide if I want to eat metal or plastic that week, or not!).

30. About 4 days ago, I was eating out of a big bag of M&M Peanuts and put one in my mouth and allthough it looked like one, it was actually a piece of conveyor belt; I thought I was going to break my bridge. What shoud I do with it?

31. SPELL CHECKERS: Stop worrying so much about how a person spells (or mis-types) their comments. Your efforts would be better spent trying to cure cancer. Move along and try that.

32. #4 - I bought a Sara Lee Strawberry Cheesecake and found a nice lump of broken metal with a glob of grease right on top with the berries. Like you #4, Sara Lee, you guess it!!!! Gave me coupons to buy MORE!!!! Why would I buy more of something I was worried about eating in the first place???? But they, the manufacturers can't fix it unless they know there is a problem. So report it to them and quite complaining and suing over it.

33. I found a piece of blue plastic in a can of Campbell's Chicken and Stars soup once. It looked like a chewed up end of a bic-type pen. I wrote to Campbell's to complain - and they never replied. Bad enough to find something in your canned food - but to have them ignore it dropped my opinion of the company waaaaaay down.

34. I will bet 99% of you came to this country from another country. I hate how you pompous people think you somehow just appeared in America. You did not! Fools! Your grandparents, great-great grandparents, or even GGG, probably came from a country other than the USA. So, get over yourselves and give people a chance to 'make it in this country' just as your ancestors once did.

35. This has nothing to do with the topic, but since everyone is talking about it anyway...
The comment that companies are using workers in Mexico because Americans are lazy and don't want to do the work is a crock of shit! They closed the Hershey Plant in Oakdale Ca. to outsource to Mexico because it's cheaper labor, leaving all of it's "lazy American" workers without a job.
It's all about greed.

37. Nate # 15 -- So where do ya live? Wondering because when I lived in Florida in a "Mobile Home family community" (that truly started out that way) we had Mexicans on BOTH sides of us. These were all 3-4 bedroom brand new mobile homes and there were NEVER less than 15 or 16, sometimes more, people living in each. That was just 2 on each side of me, not counting the rest of the park. I heard that they do it to save money to send home to Mexico to bring more family members here to America. Seriously Nate, think - didn't they all also have BRAND NEW vehicles? Usually trucks costing around $40K or more. When you have 15 people paying a $550 a month rent plus utilities, that's quite a cheap split and even with the NEW cars, lots of cash to hit Western Union with to send to Mexico. They drove us out and my daughter who still lives there across the road say that there are now at least 12 living in our old home..it's epidemic. Can't say if I know if they ate Campbell soups tho, but they DID (NO lie) burn down a guy's house behind us cooking a goat in a trash can and leaving it and it caught the grass on fire, spreading across the the back yards and hitting a gas can beside the neighbor's porch with his lawnmower and they stinkin' burned his house down! I SWEAR this is true! WHO cooks goats in trash cans??? Open a can of soup for pete's sake! - have to keep the topic in there Lol

38. I have a Cuban friend that has a successful computer business. He received a million dollar grant from the govt for being a minority business man. He was also given another HUGE grant for putting one of his businesses in a minority neighborhood. As a Caucasian I would never dream of the chance for getting something I did not work for.
NOT QUITE FAIR. BTW, he is a millionaire now thanks to tax dollars.

40. Ok so we all agree that it suck when things like this happen. I am tired of all of the food and toy recalls, but think about it. We outsource all the jobs to try to save money. The other countries are just doing their jobs. They are making the products as enexpensive as they can. Its not their fault. They are doing what they are paid to do. If we would make the things in our country I think it could be better monitored. We want to complain about all the other countries and races and how poor of a job they do,but it's our own fault. It's not the stores fault they are just selling the products. Bring more jobs and companies back to America and I dont think it would happen AS OFTEN!
