Evil Tiki monkey cookie jar and mugsPosted Sep 14th 2006 11:04AM by Joe DiStefano I hope the kind people behind Tiki Farm find it in their hearts to forgive me for calling their fez-wearing cookie jars and mugs evil. From its inception Tiki culture has been all about mugs and glasses bearing fearsome Polynesian iconography spun into fruity cocktail camp. I'm at a loss as to why the items shown here are for sale on aTiki web site. They reflect the Tiki aesthetic, but they clearly owe their creation to a another classic of pop culture: The Wizard of Oz. The film's fez-wearing flying monkeys dispatched by the Wicked Witch of the West still creep me out to this day. [via:Boing Boing] |
