Food Porn: NacatamalesPosted Sep 12th 2005 3:05PM by Nick Vagnoni From The No Sniveling Zone, the official weblog of the Green Parrot Bar in Key West Florida, comes this photo of a Nicaraguan-style tamale, or nacatamale. Made in a tiny, signless shop on White Street, these tamales were a common Saturday morning breakfast when I was home in KW last summer. Weighing about a pound, trussed in banana leaves, foil and twine, these packages look more like something deployed during a moon-rover landing than anything you’d have for breakfast. The steamy mix of masa, chiles, pork, yucca and herbs really is a great way to start a day. There are more detailed photos on the Parrot’s blog. |
