Lobster reprieveWhile sorting out a shipment of lobsters at his seafood restaurant in Lewiston, Maine, George Gendron came across a rare find—a calico lobster. Rather than make it the special, Gendron contacted the Boothbay Harbor Aquarium. Interested, the aquarium dispatched an intern to go grab the bug, which weighed in at just over a pound. According to an aquarium director, calico lobsters are more rare than yellow or bright red varieties, but still more common than blue lobsters. Boothbay Harbor Aquarium is also home to blue and yellow split colored lobsters, albino lobsters and 23-pound lobster. |
