21. Energy drinks do nothing for me. dont get any effect at all. I'll stick with Starbucks Posted at 3:40PM on Jun 14th 2006 by Andrew Morning 22. The best is XS sold by Amway, 0 carbs, 0 sugar, 8 calorie, in an 8.4 oz can. The taste is great and just enough kick for my 220 lb. frame. Posted at 3:40PM on Jun 14th 2006 by JimBob 23. Sheesh Liz, that's a little judgemental there...I am 31, work a full-time job, and am a mother of 2, both under the age of 6...I also am very tired, but the difference is I don't sleep the same as other people--I have a disease called fibromyalgia that prevents me from reaching the same level of sleep as normal people, so my body doesn't repair itself properly during sleep mode. There are also several other sleep disorders that affect both moms and teens alike...we're just doing what we gotta do to function for ourselves and our kids. I am never too "jittery" to drive, and I do not look "caffinated". I also know of a lot of people who are on prescription meds that affect them far worse than caffine would, and you don't see them hanging their keys up for life, either...they can't afford to. I also would love it if everyone could just drink bottled water, eat healthy organic food, and be rosy-cheeked and healthy, but this is the real world and it just doesn't work that way. In a perfect world we would all eat absolutely healthy, drink 8 glasses of water a day, and get 8-10 hours of sleep at night. But this ISN'T the real world!! My girlfriend in college frequently has to work late into the night studying and does not have the time to get all the sleep she needs. "She needs to just set her priorities, I'll bet she's playing on the computer" is what you might say but I beg your pardon!! She does NOT play around all the time, she works as hard as she can to get the best grades she can and if she wants to drink a Red Bull or whatever from time to time, that is HER prerogative and I don't think it's really your place to question her. As for mommies that is such a ridiculous question to ask about a mommy that I hate to answer it but HELLO, Moms are the busiest people on the planet!! Do you think they are always able to get enough sleep and water?? NO. Posted at 3:52PM on Jun 14th 2006 by Megan 25. With all the interest in the caffene levels of various beverages, why not get what you need without the additional expense & bother; just take the caffene directly! "Stay awake" products, both generic and well-known brands like "No-Doze" deliver the equiv. of 2 cups of coffee and cost pennies rather than dollars per "dose". While the "energy Drinks" (and coffee) have additional stimulating ingredents, it seems so simple to swallow a caffene pill with a glass of water and laugh at all of those who prefer to stand in line and expend mass quantities of money for brown, flavored stuff with the same water in it. Ha Ha You're stupid & a slave to maeketing & peer pressure; wise up! Posted at 3:58PM on Jun 14th 2006 by Dave C. 26. If you're really interested in energy drinks, you should try SPEED STACK by ABB. It is available at most nutrition stores - zero sugar, and only 5 calories. It makes all other energy drinks look like water. It puts all other energy drinks to shame. Geesh yourself there, Pisceangoddess, it's not about you either, hon...drink some H20 and maybe you want be so hyped up on caffreak that you take everything so darned personally and tell the world all your medical issues. It's used a lot in Central and south america Posted at 4:11PM on Jun 14th 2006 by jeff raines 29. Caffeine has serious side effects and all should know this. All the media hype and commercials make people think they need these things but in striving to do better we need to take charge of our lives. Yes, we work, we parent, we have real lives. This IS the real world. And by the way, the word is judgmental (one E) Posted at 4:12PM on Jun 14th 2006 by Gee 30. I have to concur, at 39 years and having been thru the "caffeine years", life is much greener on the other side of the fence. Posted at 4:16PM on Jun 14th 2006 by Danno! 31. Not one person has mentioned that they are also packed with vitamins. These vary by brand and are definitely much better for you than coffee or plain soda when consumed responsibly. For instance a 16oz Sobee No Fear contains 200% daily value of vitamin C, Folic Acid, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12. The variety of vitamins in Rock Star is even better. Considering that mega doses of vitamins can do damage to the body, it is important to limit the use of these to reasonable amounts. The calories are about equal to most sodas. A 12oz soda that contains 150 calories doesn't seem like much unless you 6 of them....then you have consumed half of a days calories. Posted at 4:56PM on Jun 14th 2006 by Sharon 33. Tab Energy is the way to go! It tastes great and has only 10 calories a can! I don't usually get the ones with sugar in them anyway, so I don't know how it compares to those. I have tried a lot of diet energy drinks though and Tab is certainly my fave! Posted at 5:11PM on Jun 14th 2006 by Emma 34. I wonder why Gatorade is not on the list. I find it the best, love it love it love it. Hate hate hate Red Bull!!! So sugary, definitely not good for you. Posted at 5:12PM on Jun 14th 2006 by Julia 35. i'm a definite red bull addict. i've been drinking it before it was even introduced to the USA. i had it imported for me from Austria since 1992. red bull anonymous anyone? ;) Posted at 5:23PM on Jun 14th 2006 by eric 36. Us teenagers need them because we've got so much going on. I myself have drama, school radio station, and schoolwork to juggle. Alot of nights, we don't get to bed until 1 or 2 in the morning, and have to be up again at 6:30 latest, and back in school at 7:30! How could we NOT need them? Posted at 5:25PM on Jun 14th 2006 by MK 37. I find it funny that there is all of this commotion about energy drinks and their caffeine levels, when coffee, i'm pretty sure, has waaaaay higher caffeine levels than these drinks. I definitely know that a couple cups of coffee is worth like 5 of these energy drinks to me. Furthermore, "milk" and "water" don't have "caffeine" and don't help me stay awake in the least.... if they did, i would never sleep! Posted at 6:02PM on Jun 14th 2006 by Dom 38.
