Tuesday Happy Hour: Constant Comment CosmoPosted May 22nd 2007 5:02PM by Joanne Lutynec Since it is only Tuesday, I thought we would ease into the week's Happy Hour posts with something a little different - drinks made with Bigelow Tea plus alcohol, which they have (quite cleverly, imho) named "Naughteas" cocktails. There are a surprisingly vast array of recipes to choose from on their site, including a "Taste of the Tropics Colada" and a "Mint Medley Mojito", but since it was the Constant Comment Cosmo (as pictured) that alerted me to their site, I will share the recipe for that one which you can find after the jump. *NOTE: Yes, I am aware that a Cosmo is usually made with cranberry juice. I see no reason why you couldn't substitute it for the OJ in the following recipe. Maybe they should have called this one the Constant Commentini instead. Either way, do what you like. There are no rules here. Constant Comment Cosmo Ingredients: 6 Bigelow Constant Comment Tea bags 1 1/4 cups (310mL) boiling water 1/2 cinnamon stick 2 tablespoons (30mL) sugar 4 ounces (120mL) vodka 1/4 cup (60mL) fresh orange juice Garnish with zest of orange and cinnamon stick Yield: Serves 4 Instructions: Place Bigelow "Constant Comment" tea bags into a measuring cup and add 1 1/4 cups (30mL) boiling water and cinnamon stick, let brew 3 minutes. Remove tea bags and cinnamon stick, add sugar and stir until it dissolves. Chill. To make cosmo, place two ounces (60mL) of the cooled sweet tea and mix it with 1 ounce (30mL) vodka and 1 tablespoon (15mL) orange juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a martini glass, garnish with a strip of orange zest and cinnamon stick if desired. (Image and recipe via BigelowTea.com. Source: Tastespotting) |
