21. This is how I've eaten for years. I have 3 small boys, as well as work long full-time hours. Before, I never had energy, got colds frequently and felt crappy constantly. I now NEVER have to worry about my weight - I've weighed a constant 52kg in between kids. Pretty good considering I come from a morbidly obese family! Joke is, my family think I'm crazy and that I'll waste away without 'proper food'! Posted at 11:07AM on Jul 25th 2007 by ann-marie 22. I have a comment for Undimere, fresh fruits and Vegetables are not that expensive actually, did you know that the outer skirts of the supermaker where the healthier things are located, veggies, fruits, meats, fish etc are the healthiest and the cheapest? Posted at 11:08AM on Jul 25th 2007 by tweety12_08 23. I eat plenty of fruits and veggie, no red meat and fish and chicken. What happened to everything in moderation? It's all in the genes. Posted at 11:10AM on Jul 25th 2007 by M 24. Tweety, fruits, vegetables, and health foods are indeed expensive. Organic foods don't use pesticides and such, which means they lose a larger portion of their crop to insects and have to make up revenue through consumers. The same goes for foods without preservatives. Not to mention the droughts we've experienced killing crops and the rising price of gas making it more expensive to ship the food. This stuff isn't cheap. Tastey, though. Posted at 11:31AM on Jul 25th 2007 by SKW 25. William, that way of thinking is probably part of the reason our healthcare in America is so expensive. And what about the daark green leafies we are supposed to eat to get our vitamins? In a temporary situation this might be fine, but we dieters get bored easily and that's when sin steps in. Eleven pounds of fruits and vegetables a day would definitely be a "little" too much fiber for me. :( But overall, eating that way is a good idea. Posted at 12:11PM on Jul 25th 2007 by Maureen 29. You need to read the book "Green for Life" My husband has lost nearly 50lbs his meals consists of Green smoothies 64oz a day a salad baked fish, chicken or turkey. also through out the day he consumes nuts. Heath wise it has been a remarkable transformation for him. Posted at 12:15PM on Jul 25th 2007 by Diane 30. Sounds like a bunch of you have gone ape! Posted at 12:31PM on Jul 25th 2007 by Tim 31. Posted at 12:57PM on Jul 25th 2007 by Mark 32. I think, Mr. William Ross, #12 above, that you mean you "could not" care less, meaning that you have no caring feeling left. If you "could" care less, then you mean to say that you still care somewhat. Why do so many people get this wrong? Anyway, I fail to see how eating healthy is regressive and part of a left-wing agenda. Maybe you'll see the error of your thought process when you're clutching your chest, dying of a heart attack. Sorry to put it in those terms, but that is the last reality for a lot of people because of the way they eat. Posted at 1:02PM on Jul 25th 2007 by KK 33. well humans ARE animals (we certainly aren't vegetables!). Humans have evolved for thousands of years, living off of natural foods such as fruits and berries and nuts. Also some fish and whatever small amount of meat they could come by. No wonder most people are overweight today - look at our diets! Processed EVERYTHING. Sugar and salt added to everything. You don't need scientific studies to prove that this diet works, you only need common sense. Posted at 1:42PM on Jul 25th 2007 by kat 34. I have to agree with Deb on post 15. Once you start eating like a ape, you lose your appetite for anything processed. That's because they are designed to fill you up, not supplying any nutritional value. Why do you think it is advised that we humans get our daily needs of the food pyramid? Fruits, veggies, fiber. You can do without the dairy, though, since we are not baby cows by nature. Eat more honey, and did you know the human body can live off bee pollen and water? That's right. Bee pollen supplies all seven nutrients and enzymes necessary to sustain human life. So, eat like King Kong and prosper! Peace. Posted at 1:47PM on Jul 25th 2007 by Wolfie 35. Eating like an ape sounds all well and good BUT what about us apes that are trying to GAIN weight and yet eat healthy? Posted at 1:48PM on Jul 25th 2007 by Joan 36. MY naeame iis chimpy. iam a aape buttt I dont kkno howww to tpe varry welll yyet. i eeat like ean ape. Posted at 1:50PM on Jul 25th 2007 by Chimpy 37. Remember also that most animals eat only what they need to. We eat at buffets until we have to unbuckle our pants. Quantity plays an important part as well as quality. Posted at 1:58PM on Jul 25th 2007 by al 38. eat like an ape, i truly dont know how the eat, all i know the dont eat with forks ,or some do , maybe i should watch them closer we have so many of the walking around but all i ever see them eat was an orange right out of the skin, Posted at 2:04PM on Jul 25th 2007 by diane rodgers 39. I think those who are worried about the expense of fruits and vegetables should realize there are compromises. Yes, organic is best, but a diet comprised of commercially quick-frozen raw vegetables is far preferable to processed foods, and is also extremely convenient and inexpensive. Try a breakfast of mixed frozen vegetables covered with pasta sauce and some cheese; costs way less than a dollar, takes less than 5 minutes to make (using a microwave), provides nearly all of the value of the vegetables, and starts your day with a meal that won't make you suffer a carb crash by mid-morning. It is workable for almost anyone, and way cheaper than a box of cereal!
