21. I have to agree with a previous answer, any sandwich at Chris Bianco's Pane Bianco should have made the list. Vegetarian, try his roasted eggplant, his version of a BLT, Bacon minus the tomato, slow roasted lamb, caprese (he makes his own mozzarella)the list goes on and on. Freshly made bread in a brick oven. It's now wonder this man has earned a James Beard Award for making pizza,now he should get one for his sandwiches. I can't wait to see what the special is today

22. What? No one is standing in support of the Frenchy's Fantasy? I have eaten this gargantuan sandwich all of once, and I have to say that its presence in my memory is so vivid...Amazing. Perry's Deli all the way!

Roasted Tomato & Cheddar at the Soho Grand in NYC. How they manage to make a grilled cheese so damn tasty, I'll never know.

24. Another mention for Zingerman's in Ann Arbor, MI. Like another poster mentioned above, if it ain't on the coast don't expect any recognition no matter how good it is.

25. My current favorite sandwich is the marinated white anchovies and soft-cooked egg one at 'wichcraft (in NY, Las Vegas and SF). Sounds weird, but is absolutely delicious.

A few years ago I went to Spain and fell in love with the bocadillos -- we walked into some little hole in the wall in Seville that had the BEST cheese and ham sandwiches. I also really liked their local fast food chain Pans y Co. (Just looked up their website and found that they'd introduced bagels to their menu --oy!)

26. Wow, the Today Show....could they have rushed through the sandwich contest piece any faster? They might as well have said, "Yada yada, just slop it together, we'll take a bite, and that's all we left time for on the Today Show!" Ok, it's not a kidnapping, not a Dem debate, not a song, but this is what gets non-watchers like me to tune in when they wouldn't otherwise. Vesuvio's is my nephew's restaurant, darn it all. It was just, well, I'll say it....a rude, rushed presentation.
