Espresso machine recallPosted Feb 16th 2006 3:08PM by Nick Vagnoni Krups recently issued a voluntary recall for two different models of the Orchestro Espresso Maker. Apparently
the electrical connectors on the machines are prone to eroding, making them fire hazards. The model numbers are 890-41
(right) and 889-45. According to the recall statement from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety
Commission, there are about 2,100 of the machines in circulation and no injuries have been reported. The machines are
produced in Switzerland by Eugster/Frismag. Krups will offer free repairs via their recall site. Apparently, the machines have been on the market for about six
years and retail for around $850. That's a lot of scratch to have a coffeepot go up in flames. |
