A Passion for Ice Cream, Cookbook of the DayPosted May 29th 2006 8:07AM by Nicole Weston In A Passion for Ice Cream, pastry chef Emily Luchetti turns her finely honed skills to one of our favorite comfort foods. To start off, the photos are fantastic and make the dishes hard to resist. They're not just of ice cream - nor are the recipes: each one focuses on presentation and ways to serve the frozen treat, with accompaniments like cookies, sauces and other innovative uses, including a recipe for Chocolate Cupcakes stuffed with Pistachio Ice Cream, which is not something that you would find in the average book about ice cream. This also means that the recipes in the book include cakes and things, all of which live up to the high standards that Luchetti is known for. The ice creams themselves run from fairly simple flavors, like French Vanilla, to more unusual varieties, such as Creme Fraiche Ice Cream and Chocolate Covered Pretzel Ice Cream. Caramelized Apple and Butter Pecan Ice Cream Sunday, anyone? All in all, the photography and the names of the recipes should be enough to tempt any ice cream love into taking a closer look at the book. You won't be disappointed if you do. |
