21. A $700 hospital bill for a "life-threatening" medical incident? Did he fly to India? Posted at 5:10PM on Aug 14th 2007 by Mike G 22. If he ordered a "hamburger" why would it even come with cheese? And then eat it in a darkened room? Totally ridiculous if you ask me. Posted at 6:32PM on Aug 14th 2007 by Kat 23. As someone else with a dairy allergy, I make sure that I am responsible to make sure that what I eat doesn't have dairy in it, and I alone. It often means dissecting the menu, special ordering with detailed instructions, and then double-checking the order when I get it to make sure there's no dairy. I do not take it on faith that anyone else will listen or remember. Posted at 7:58AM on Aug 15th 2007 by Ozymandia 24. A "cheese allergy" is really lactose intolerance, the symptoms of which include abdominal cramps, bloating, flatulence, and diarrhea. Seems a steep price to pay for passing gas. Second, processed cheese products are primarily oil, not milk, so who are we kidding? In this case, it really seems like a group of opportunists decided to conspire against the fast-food chain so that he can move out of mom's house and compensate her for her trouble. Next time, he should check his food before he eats it -- and avoid fast food. Posted at 1:20PM on Aug 15th 2007 by Lydia 25. Does this man not have sense enough to check that his order is correct ... especially it it involves a medical issue? I do not like raw onions on my burgers and I order them without onions .... then I look when my food is delivered. Sometimes my food does come with onions and guess what .... I do not eat it ... I return to the counter and tell them that they got my order WRONG ... please correct it. While he did order his burger without cheese he needs to take a little responsability and check to see that there was not a mistake made. Posted at 1:55PM on Aug 15th 2007 by Ron 26. Always check your order!! Especially if you have allergies of some kind! Posted at 2:07PM on Aug 15th 2007 by MJ 27. I pray that McD's put's their corporate paw down and refuses to pay this cheesy crook one thin dime! if he's so all-fired allergic, why didn't he take his sorry behind to a better restaurant??? Are you serious? Come on now, who doesn't inspect their fast food before eating it? darkened room or not! AND why would he continue to eat more than 1 bite after he tasted that there was cheese? AND would one bite of cheese really kill him? Too many questions, hope he loses in court! Posted at 1:52PM on Aug 16th 2007 by Bee 32. Ok, if he's allergic to cheese, where was his Epi-pen? Why did he not have a card of benadryl in his wallet? If he did not know about the allergy, that is ok, but most people know about dairy allergies by the time they are grown. We tend to learn the hard way. He should have checked his food and ordered according to the menu. A hamburger at Macdonalds has no cheese. That is a cheeseburger... Posted at 1:15AM on Aug 20th 2007 by niki 33. I also have droves of allergies, and let me tell you, if I tasted cheese , I would stop eating it immediately, without swallowing, in fact , I have done it, spit it out, etc. Obviously, he is looking for money. Sad reflection on humanity. Posted at 5:30PM on Aug 20th 2007 by Theresa 34. ok we have 2 idiots here. First the guy for not checking his sandwich when he has a food allergy and secondly the guy that wrote this article that did not realize this happened in west virginia and not south carolina. Wait! Can I sue the author for providing misinformation and causing emotional stress because I am from SC and this was slanderous to the great state of smiling faces, beautiful places where history lives?? Imagine that, someone made a mistake! Everyone look surprised! Posted at 11:39PM on Aug 20th 2007 by mykal 35. They must have the same people at that McDonald's that they do here in CA Bay Area. I always order a Mcgriddle without the cheese (because it makes the whole sandwich kinda smell like barf). It's very comical.. The Mexican ladies behind the counter *always* mistake "no cheese" as asking for apple juice. Figure that one out :-/ Posted at 11:52AM on Sep 26th 2007 by jack torse |
