Bridal showers are supposed to be fun!  There is no rule that says the shower has to be held in someone¡¯s living room.  Let some of these fun party ideas inspire you to leave the house.

Take a group class:

Who says learning something new can¡¯t be fun?  There are such a wide variety of group classes being offered out there, there is sure to be one that all the girls in your group will love.  Try scheduling a group dance lesson; you can learn sexy belly dancing, salsa, or tango techniques together.   If dancing doesn¡¯t suit your crowd, try something a little more slow-paced, like a group yoga class followed by tea time or a light and healthy lunch.  For a sit down group activity, sign everyone up for an art class.  All of the guests can make their own pottery, sculptures, or paintings.  The best part is, they can take home their masterpieces so giving away extravagant favors is not necessary.  

All day fun:

Is three hours too little time?  Try holding an all day event, complete with several changes of scenery.  Many brides are choosing to merge the bachelorette party and the bridal shower into one event.  Start the day by having everyone meet at one location, say the bride¡¯s house, during the mid-morning.  Offer donuts and bagels for a quick breakfast before departing for your day of fun.  Arrange for limousine transportation, or maybe a few sporty convertibles to pick up all the party attendees and take them to a luxurious spa for a relaxing treatment or two.  Follow that with some outdoor activity such as a horseback ride or long hike.  Afterward, treat the group to a late afternoon picnic complete with wine or champagne.  Then, it¡¯s off to a night on the town.  If the attendees are not party people, skip the club in favor of dining at an upscale restaurant.

Sexy fun:

If you insist on hosting the bridal shower from someone¡¯s home, at least lure the invitees over with the promise of something sexy! There is nothing wrong with making the theme of your bridal shower all about being a woman.  For something fun, feminine and flirty, schedule a private lingerie party.  Lingerie parties can be held in the privacy and comfort of your own home, but they sure won¡¯t be boring.  A representative will show up bearing the latest fashion in lingerie.  The guests can try things on and buy them right there.  And if any of the guests forgot to bring the bride a gift, send her off on her honeymoon with a suitcase full of sexy sleepwear.  Serve dinner or late night snacks before or after the party, and make sure plenty of drinks are available to loosen up shy guests.  The downside to this type of bridal shower is that it might exclude moms.  Many people might prefer to leave the older women out of such a party, however if the older women on your guest list are good sports, invite them anyway.
