Decorating the Christmas tree is a favorite holiday tradition for many folks. Lights, bulbs, garlands, and tinsel reflect holiday magic that appeals to people of all ages. 

While some families put everything but the kitchen sink on their trees each year, others thoughtfully select a design or theme that sets the mood for their festivities. If you're wondering which pattern is right for your tree, here are some ideas to consider:

1. Multicultural designs. How about angels of all hues, shapes, and designs? The tree-top ornament might represent a globe shape, while the decorations suggest people from all cultures and societies. Global peace or harmony can be your family's motto this holiday season. And the theme will be a great conversational piece for sharing good will when neighbors and friends who stop by. 

2. Country scenes. Select pastoral images to highlight your tree in traditional style. String popcorn or cranberry garlands and hang fuzzy farm animals and pretty seasonal flowers like poinsettia blooms on the tree branches. You might try a small-town flavor by adding a few tiny milk trucks or Victorian houses. Artificial snow will complete the rustic look.

3. Patchwork pieces. A cozy plaid or blend of quilted patterns arranged as ornaments will enhance your tree's appeal to everyone who sees it. Use old-fashioned simple lace as a garland, and miniature artificial candles for light fixtures. Add a matching quilted tree skirt underneath the ornate branches.
