Over the past thirty years, you and your spouse have grown together as a married couple. Your children have been raised and are beginning their own lives as you eagerly look towards those days of retirement when you and your spouse can enjoy the fruits of your labor. As your thirtieth wedding anniversary approaches, you will need to start looking for something special to show your spouse you still love them after all these years. The traditional anniversary gift for the thirtieth year is the pearl, so here are some pearl and pearl-inspired gifts to get you going in the right direction.

* You can never go wrong with jewelry, of course, and pearls are the perfect complement to any wardrobe. Choose a piece of jewelry that signifies your thirty years together as a married couple. For example, you can buy a string of thirty pearls as a necklace for your wife. You could also get her some earrings that have three pearl drops (to signify the three decades of your marriage). Your husband may have a job where he is required to wear suits, so why not get him some pearl cufflinks.

* If you and your spouse are looking for an excuse to travel, surprise them with a trip to visit Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Buy a travel book about Hawaii and plant the plane tickets and itinerary inside. 

* Another great travel gift would be a vacation in Tahiti. You can bask in the clear waters and the beautiful beaches while celebrating your thirty years together. While you are there, you can incorporate the ¡°pearl¡± theme by picking up your spouse some black pearl jewelry, which Tahiti is famous for.

* Why not plan an intimate dinner for two at a favorite restaurant or at home where the main entree is a plate of fresh (or fried) oysters? 

* If your spouse loves art, why not get them a reprint of the famous masterful painting, ¡°Girl With a Pearl Earring¡± by Johanes Vermeer. Or if your spouse loves movies, you can get them a copy of the recent 2003 movie also entitled, ¡°Girl With a Pearl Earring.¡± For a special touch, why not commission a local artist (or college art student) to recreate this famous painting with your wife as the subject?
