As the Christmas season begins to approach, you can almost feel the static in the air. The talk around the office starts to turn from profit margins and project deadlines to what everybody is getting their spouse or children as gifts or what is on their own Christmas list. If you enjoy the company of your co-workers and want to get them a little something for the holidays, but don¡¯t want to spend a fortune buying every single person something different, then why not get your office friends a group gift that they can all enjoy.
* The way to almost anybody¡¯s heart is through their stomach so why not spoil your office mates with a platter of baked treats. Go through your recipe books and magazines to find several different recipes for cookies, brownies, fudge and breads. Make as many or as little different types of sweets as you like. You can be adventurous and attempt to make new recipes you have never tried. The great thing about this type of gift is that for very little money, you can make a ton of cookies and sweets. You can choose to lay out a whole array of cookies on one communal platter or, if you have time, you can buy decorative Christmas cellophane bags and put a few treats in each one for each of your co-workers.
* If your office is like most offices, chances are every single employee has a large coffee mug at his/her desk that they fill every single morning with the generic coffee provided to the employees. Why not get a few gallons of gourmet coffee from your favorite coffee shop to deliver to your office sometime during the Christmas holidays. For only a few dollars, you can buy a gallon of hot coffee in a to-go container ready to be served. Pair the coffee with some fresh donuts or bagels for a wonderful holiday breakfast for your colleagues.
* There are two basic types of people when it comes to lunchtime. There are those people who have lunch out at a restaurant or fast-food place every single day of the week. Then there are those people who bring in microwave entrees to heat up and eat at their desk. No matter what kind of lunch-goers your colleagues are, nobody will turn down a free lunch. Order a platter of sandwiches or meats, cheeses and breads from a local grocery store to treat your co-workers to lunch one day during the holiday season. While it may be too costly to take all of your colleagues out to lunch, it will cost a fraction of the cost to order in.
* At a crafts store, buy some unpainted Christmas tree ornaments. You can buy the large metal ball ornaments that are one solid color or you can buy plain unfinished wood ornaments. Get some paint and thin paintbrushes and spend an evening writing each person¡¯s name on one of the ornaments. Wrap up each ornament and hand them to your co-workers for a fun and personalized gift.
* Why not throw a small office get-together at your home where you can get a chance to spend some time together out of work. Hand out invitations to your co-workers a few weeks before the actual party or invite them using an online e-invitation. Serve a few finger foods and provide setups for the party. This can be your way of showing appreciation for the teamwork and camaraderie your colleagues provide all year long. |
